Chief’s Son Distillery’s Cask Expression Release 7, bottled at 46% ABV, is a masterful blend of two distinct whiskies. One matured in second-fill French oak ex-Apera casks, imparting honey, citrus, and caramel notes; the other in first-fill French oak ex-Tawny/Port casks, delivering dried fruits, chocolate, and pear flavours. These were then married in an American oak ex-Jamaican Rum barrel, adding rich lemonade and dark sugar undertones, resulting in a whisky that echoes the smooth, complex character of a Belgian Tripel beer.
