Description
Fontodi is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico. More precisely in the valley that opens south of the town of Panzano called “Conca d’oro”. A terroir renowned for centuries for its vocation for quality viticulture. This is due to the unique combination of high altitude, marly soils, great brightness and a fantastic microclimate, warm, dry and with a wide temperature range. All Fontodi wines are produced from grapes from their own vineyards, harvested by hand, carefully chosen and vinified in a way that enhances the character of the vines and the territory. Fontodi’s owner-winemaker, Giovanni Manetti, has long considered Chianti Classico’s Lamole region special, and this wine proves him right. Fontodi’s newest wine comes from his cousin’s holdings in the cool zone of Lamole. The terraced vineyards sit at 600 metres above sea level on sandstone soil. Fermented in cement and aged in French oak casks. Complex aromas of sweet berries, tobacco and mushrooms with some floral undertones. Full-bodied with very tight, polished tannins and cedar, mahogany and dark fruit on the finish. Lots of transparent fruit at the end. From organically grown grapes.
