Description
The fruit in the Mada Syrah Nouveau 2018 was hand harvested and split into three seperate ferments. First, 100% Syrah destemmed for fermentation. Second, 100% whole bunch ferment of Syrah, Mouvedre and Grenache. Minimal ferment work. Third, 100% Syrah 30 day carbonic maturation. The wine is matured in ceramic egg and concrete tank. No fining. No filtration. Minimal sulphur added. Syrah from this site is best represented in a Nouveau style given the rocky, hungry nature of the site, the subsequent bright fruit profile and underlying dark granite tannin line. Situated on the eastern slopes of a hillside, terraced vineyard. The soil is a mixture of Granite, Quartz, Shale, with scattered Limestone.
