Pooley Riesling 2021

Description

Pooley was established in 1985 when the family planted 10 rows of Riesling & 7 rows of Pinot Noir on their property at Coal River in Southern Tasmania. This wine comes off those first planted Riesling vines. Such an enticing wine from the first sniff; jasmine, grapefruit & white flowers on the nose, while the palate reveals lavender, lime zest, green apple & fennel. Seductive stuff. Grapes for the 2021 vintage come from a blend of Butcher’s Hill Riesling (60%) and Cooinda Vale Riesling (40%). They were handpicked and cold settled overnight. Whole-bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel. Inoculated fermentation. 4 months on fine lees prior to bottling. A bright and crunchy cool-climate Riesling with notes of lime blossom, jasmine, citrus peel and granny smith apple on the nose. Sweet citrus, grapefruit and mandarin follow on the palate with a nervy acid profile and a textured, lingering finish.
