Product Description A Central Otago Chardonnay shaped by Burgundian sensibility. Prophet’s Rock Cuvee Aux Antipodes Blanc 2022 comes from a tiny one-hectare block on the Kopuwai Delta vineyard in the Pisa sub-region, where glacial and alluvial soils define its character. Yields are kept exceptionally low at around 25–30 hl/ha, with only 23 barrels produced. The wine is crafted by François Millet, formerly of Comte Georges de Vogüe in Chambolle-Musigny, in collaboration with Prophet’s Rock winemaker Paul Pujol. Hand-picked fruit is whole-bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak, and aged 17 months on lees with a restrained use of new oak. Unfiltered and bottled under Diam cork, it carries both the richness of Central Otago fruit and the structure of a Burgundian approach. 0s, Prophet’s Rock aim to harness the unique terroir of Central Otago. The name Prophet’s Rock pays homage to a 19th-century gold prospector, a fitting name that captures the spirit of exploration and discovery. The vineyards were strategically planted on ancient glacial terraces in Bendigo in 1999 and 2000, chosen for their unique soils and ideal climate for cultivating cool-climate varietals. In 2005, Paul Pujol joined Prophet’s Rock. His passion for cool-climate viticulture, nurtured through extensive work in France and the United States, has been integral in shaping their winemaking philosophy. Paul’s commitment to minimal intervention and terroir-driven winemaking reflects a profound respect for the natural characteristics of our vineyards. Tasting Notes NOSE – Floral and mineral White blossom, peach and mandarin citrus are joined by brioche, macadamia and subtle pastry notes, underpinned by oyster shell and saline minerality. PALATE – Stone fruit and texture White peach and citrus sit over a layered palate of brioche, toast and savoury lees character, with chalky minerality and bright acidity providing tension and balance. FINISH – Long and graceful Persistent, mineral-driven finish with hints of butterscotch and spice.
