Product Description:Grace, heritage, and time converge in one of Australia’s most storied wines. The 1991 Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz represents a moment in the lineage of an Australian icon. A single-vineyard wine from dry-grown, pre-phylloxera Shiraz vines planted in the 1860s. Located in a shallow valley opposite a historic Lutheran church in Eden Valley, the Hill of Grace vineyard sits on red-brown earth over deep silty loam, a site with natural balance and deep water retention that has sustained these centenarian vines for generations. The 1991 growing season brought a mild spring and warm summer, producing small yields of concentrated fruit with exceptional balance. Matured in a selection of new French and American oak hogsheads for close to two years, this wine emerged with both power and poise. Over three decades later, it continues to display depth, freshness, and harmony. A testament to the vineyard’s resilience and the Henschke family’s exacting craft. Hill of Grace stands as a singular expression of Australian Shiraz, shaped by six generations of stewardship. Under Stephen and Prue Henschke’s leadership, the estate’s commitment to organic and biodynamic farming has ensured the preservation of this heritage site. The 1991 vintage remains one of the greats: an aged Eden Valley Shiraz that speaks with clarity, grace, and quiet authority.
