Maison Castarede is a family-run Armagnac house with centuries of distilling history. It is based just south of the town Mauleon d’Armagnac within the Bas Armagnac subregion. The Castarede estate has a 17th century chateau that has been the site of distillation and aging since it was acquired by the family in the late 20th century. Castarede Bas-Armagnac 1971 vintage was matured in oak barrels for 49 years and then bottled in 2020. The nose is deep wth rich fruit, aromas of candied, groundnuts, intense orange peel and almond. The palate is rich and powerful, slightly warm and full of character with excellent length.
