Product Description: A rare glimpse of Meursault in red. While the village is famed for Chardonnay, just a sliver of its vineyards, around 5%, is planted to Pinot Noir. Fabien Coche is one of the few producers to bottle Meursault Rouge, making this cuvee both distinctive and scarce. The fruit comes from three parcels, Pre de Manche, Dresolles and Peutes Vignes, on the northern border with Pommard, where limestone-marl soils are perfectly suited to Pinot Noir. The 2023 vintage shows the same purity and finesse that defines Coche’s whites, transposed into red Burgundy form. Gentle vinification with 25% whole bunch and the chapeau immerge method has created a wine of lifted raspberry perfume, supple tannins and fine detail. This is an elegant, silken Pinot with an earthy undertow, and with production so limited, it is a wine well worth seeking out.
