Domaine Naturaliste is one of our favourite Margaret River producers, crafting wonderful expressions of Chardonnay, Cabernet, Syrah & Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Australian wine legend James Halliday clearly agrees with us, awarding them his Best Value Winery in Australia 2020” award. Their vines are 7 km inland from the magnificent Indian ocean. The gravelly loam soils provide a stable foundation for our 20 year old grapevines, allowing them to achieve balance. The maritime climate is characterised by cool wet winters, and long gentle summers, which makes this area a pristine environment for growing wine. This Margaret River Syrah is noteworthy because of its fragrance and attractiveness in its youth. A rachis (Latin botanical term) is the stalk to which the individual berries are attached to. This cuvee is so named because of the inclusion of 1/3 whole bunches (rachis) in the cuvee. The rachis contributes perfumes, tannin and flavours additional to the grapes.
