The 2024 Yarra Valley Chardonnay brings together fruit from both the upper and lower reaches of the valley, with a gentle hand in the winery that lets the site do the talking. Pressed as whole bunches, wild fermented in large format French oak (just 15% new), and matured on lees without interference, this wine is all about restraint and precision. The cool 2022 vintage delivered small crops but big flavour. Concentration, acidity and structure are all in balance here—ripe orchard fruit, white stone fruit, citrus and blossom meet a touch of flinty reduction and warm spice from the oak. The kind of Chardonnay that’s built for the table, not the trophy cabinet. Pair it with barbecued prawns, seared white fish or simply on its own—it more than holds its own.
