Product Information: Made entirely from Chardonnay, Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs 2017 is sourced from the grand cru village of Avize, located in the heart of the Cote des Blancs. The fruit comes exclusively from hillside plots within Roederer’s own La Cote” estate, where the intensely chalky soils and eastern exposures yield grapes of remarkable tension and finesse. These parcels are managed with biodynamic principles, with an emphasis on soil health and vine balance to preserve the vibrancy and mineral purity of the fruit. 2017 was a year of precision and restraint in Champagne. Marked by cool conditions and a relatively early harvest, the vintage favoured the chalky soils of Avize, which transmitted their mineral character with exceptional clarity. Roederer’s cellar work reflects this purity: fermentation is conducted at low temperatures, with partial malolactic fermentation to soften acidity while retaining freshness. The wine is aged for several years on lees in bottle, encouraging the development of texture and aromatic depth without compromising its linear profile. The result is a luminous, finely poised Champagne defined by its saline tension and powdery chalk texture. It opens with delicate citrus and white blossom, layered over crushed stone and subtle patisserie notes. The palate is austere yet elegant, shaped by firm acidity and a mouthcoating mineral line. Long lees ageing adds refinement, while the natural structure and low dosage highlight the wine’s dry, crystalline core. A transparent, terroir-led blanc de blancs with enduring precision and quiet power. Tasting NotesNOSE– Chalk and citrusLifted aromas of lemon zest and white blossoms layered with crushed stone.
