Product Description: Depth, power and site definition mark this single-vineyard Barolo from the celebrated Mosconi cru in Monforte d’Alba. The 2021 Pio Cesare Barolo Mosconi comes from one of the estate’s most structured exposures, where calcareous clay soils and warmer positioning produce Nebbiolo of concentration and longevity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with extended maceration to fully extract colour, tannin and aromatic complexity. The wine is then aged for an extended period in large French oak botti with a smaller proportion of barriques, a maturation designed to soften structure while preserving vineyard character. In the glass it presents a deep garnet hue and a more brooding profile compared to the estate’s classic Barolo. Aromas emerge slowly, revealing layers of dark cherry, rose, spice and earthy undertones. The palate is firm and architectural, supported by vibrant acidity and dense, finely textured tannins. The 2021 vintage brings balance to the natural power of Mosconi, allowing precision as well as intensity. Built for long ageing, it benefits from decanting in youth and pairs beautifully with braised beef, game and truffle-based dishes.
