Product Description: This high-altitude Shiraz from Torbreck unites the Eden Valley’s finesse with the Barossa Valley’s depth. The 2023 The Struie is a masterful cuvee of Shiraz (red wine) from two of South Australia’s most revered regions, combining the taut structure and purity of Eden Valley fruit with the rich, concentrated intensity of Barossa Valley vineyards. Crafted in limited quantities and presented here in a rare 3-litre format, it’s a bold yet balanced expression designed for both immediate impact and decades of evolution. The fruit was sourced from mature, high-altitude vines, then aged for 18 months in French oak (25% new) to shape its plush texture and layered complexity. Blackberry, blueberry, and dark chocolate aromas lead into a dense palate of black and blue fruits, underpinned by soft yet powerful tannins. This large-format release offers extended ageing potential — a centrepiece bottle that will develop beautifully for 20 years. Presented in its impressive 3L size, The Struie 2023 is a natural choice for celebratory feasts, long-table dinners, or collectors seeking a wine that will gracefully evolve. Crafted in the Barossa and Eden Valleys, shipped from Sydney with fast metro delivery and Australia-wide dispatch. Tasting Notes NOSE – Vibrant & Complex Lifted blackberry, blueberry, and dark chocolate with hints of sandalwood, graphite, and a touch of liquorice. PALATE – Plush & Textured Black and blue fruits dominate, supported by fine, round tannins and seamless acidity. FINISH – Long & Structured Concentrated dark fruit carried by soft yet powerful tannins, promising decades of graceful ageing. Reviews & Accolades The 2023 The Struie is a blend from Eden and Barossa, melding the higher-altitude austerity and structure of Eden with the density and muscle of the Barossa. I like this wine, because if you sit with it for long enough, you can clearly see the component parts side by side. The whole makes the understanding of the parts. You get the blueberry, black cherry, licorice, crushed quartz, aniseed and dark chocolate of Eden married to the bloody, earthy, gritty muscle of Barossa. Awesome.” – Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, 95 points A lovely balance of Eden Valley spices and Barossa power and strength, with aromas of blackberries, graphite, olive tapenade, violets and purple fruit. The palate is full-bodied with a velvety texture, ultra-fine tannins and flavours of mulberries, mint, pomegranates, cured meat and dark chocolate. A silken finish for this excellent release from a cool vintage. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling, 96 points Dense purple colour; pungent notes of spiced berries, licorice and Christmas cake spice make way for a plush and chewy core. Tannins frame the intense fruits: they’re the necessary scaffolding this full-bodied red requires, signing off with chalky persistence. It’s a little stoic in its youth, but time in glass allows the fruit to unfurl and relax. This is a fresh and modern take on the Barossa. A second glass is not out of the question. It will win many hearts and age nicely.” – Gabrielle Poy, The Real Review, 92 points The 43 % Eden fruit in this wine is blacker than a century-old inkwell… in the challenging 2023 vintage, The Struie has … the presence of a deity in the glass! It is clearly one of the greatest Torbreck wines of all time, … a slice of eminently affordable luxury…” – Matthew Jukes, 19.5+/20 Finer Details: Style – Red Wine Varietal – Shiraz Country – Australia Region – Barossa Valley & Eden Valley, South Australia Vintage –
