This wine sits firmly in the modern Syrah style showcasing fragrant aromatics typical of its Eden Valley provenance. Vintage 2021 produced Syrah of balance, style and exceptional varietal characteristics. Good late winter and spring rains enabled the vines to grow healthy canopies. Summer was mild to warm with cool nights that led to the development of wonderful aromatics and flavours. The grapes have been sourced from a single vineyard notable for pristine refinement and elegance of style. The Bartholomaeus family vineyard on the southern edge of Eden Valley township. This old, easterly facing, gently sloping block of 9 acres affectionally as Barty’s” is of unknown clones planted in 1920 on its own roots. Medium to deep red in colour with purple hues. The 32% whole bunch and wild fermentation has resulted in a perfumed and seductive wine withelegant restraint. Aromatic and floral with opulent aromas of rose, violet, spice and mixed red berries. Complex fruit flavours dance across the long, lingering palate. A delicious medium bodied wine with fine, elegant tannins.
